Relazioni internazionali

La partecipazione e la cooperazione delle Maldive nelle organizzazioni internazionali è aumentato considerevolmente negli ultimi due decenni. Di importanza particolare, l'attività in seno alle Nazioni Unite, l'Organizzazione della Conferenza Islamica, sono il Commonwealth e l'Associazione dell'Asia meridionale per la cooperazione regionale (SAARC). Quest'ultimo è particolarmente importante perché la sicurezza a lungo termine e gli interessi economici sono strettamente correlati alle Maldive per lo sviluppo di questa regione.
